Picco Engineering is at the forefront of BIM modeling technology and has gained a reputation for providing some of the most accurate 3D prototypes and constructible designs in the stone industry. Our modeling services integrate easily with existing MEP and architectural models and can provide mass and volume calculations, center of gravity identification, interference and conflict analysis, realistic rendering and installation sequence animation. Our 3D models allow for easy prototyping, giving you the ability to accurately evaluate your designs before they are built. We ensure a high degree of compatibility with CNC machinery and leading engineering and architectural software so that models can be used across various platforms.

Our certifications cover a wide geographical area, which gives us the flexibility to accommodate client needs throughout Canada and the United States. Picco Engineering is fully licensed in provinces across the country including Ontario, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. We are also licensed to work in the state of Michigan, and are capable of providing peer review and stamping in all 50 US states.

Picco provides advanced, detailed drawings of connection systems, clearly identifying individual components and listing each part by number and quantity. Our engineers produce custom designs for epoxied stone elements, supports and anchoring for dimensional stone. We also provide analysis and design services for a variety of back-up types including concrete, CMU, steel studs and masonry.

Picco Engineering offers a range of assessments on structures and components including seismic, wind, and stress analysis, and we provide evaluations of full load bearing and non-load bearing conditions and anchor performance. For large cavities, we can provide steel frame, strut and tube design.

Picco Engineering is recognized worldwide for its expertise in natural stone and anchoring systems. We have extensive experience working with complex stone cladding systems and as a result we have become a leading resource for knowledge in this field. Architects, owners and contractors regularly take advantage of our specialization in this area with our range of Design Assistance and Consulting services.

During the design process, Picco Engineering can provide the information you need to make the right decisions when it comes to sourcing and selecting stone, budgeting, testing materials, determining requirements for architectural design, determining jointing and panel sizes, stone thickness considerations, preliminary load calculations, substrate suitability and fabrication scheduling. We also offer clients accurate peer reviews and perform onsite inspections to ensure all work is being installed in accordance with contract documents and details.

Picco Engineering produces detailed drawings for factory fabrication and assembly. Our drawings include comprehensive details on all fabrication requirements, and individual fabrication sheets for each piece of stone. All drawings are coordinated with precise numbering and clearly referenced to shop drawings. Drawings include details for correct connection and anchoring, and coordination with any pattern requirements including book matching, mosaic, and carved elements. We are meticulous in the production of our drawings so you can be sure every piece is precisely fabricated.

We specialize in producing accurate, detailed and easy-to-read shop drawings, so that stone fabricators and installers are provided with the information they need to get their job done. Our comprehensive drawings detail every stone size and building configuration, and are coordinated with architectural and structural construction documents to indicate the location of each connection of stone to a building.

Utilizing a range of standardized testing methods including compression, freeze-thaw cycling, anchor pull out, bending and shear tests, Picco provides detailed analyses of the physical characteristics of materials used in a building project. We assess anchor performance utilizing a range of thorough testing methods, including the use of simulations involving full-sized stone panel mock-ups.

Our inspection services also include a field review of new stone installation, retrofits or repair details and failures. Inspections are typically done to ensure conformance to construction specifications and to evaluate the existence of any potential problems. Inspections range from a simple one-hour site visit, to an intensive program spanning the duration of a project schedule.
