Michael Picco is the President and Founder of Picco Engineering and the driving force behind its continued success. With more than 25 years experience in stone consulting and engineering, Michael remains active in project sponsorship and is a much sought-after speaker on the subject of stone cladding and anchoring systems. He has shared his expertise with industry leaders from around the world, offering seminars at StoneExpo for The Marble Institute of America and at Marmomacc - International Exposition of Stone Design & Technology in Verona, Italy.

In addition to earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McMaster University, Michael is registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Marble Institute of America, and the Ontario Home Builders Association. He is also the safety consultant for the Residential Framing Contractors Association of Metropolitan Toronto and vicinity, an active member of the Canadian Standard Association technical committee on Masonry Design S304.1 and the Chief Consultant to The Terrazzo Tile and Marble Association of Canada, serving on their technical committee.

Jacinto (Jazz) Alvarez is Lead Engineer on Picco’s residential projects. Jazz is responsible for managing the provision of engineering assistance in stone and lightweight cladding projects both locally and abroad and has more than 28 years of construction experience both in the office and onsite.

Jazz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and is registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario and the state of Michigan. He is registered with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying and has ongoing registrations in a number of other states, allowing for the accommodation of client needs in various jurisdictions.

Karl Doucas has been an indispensable part of the Picco Engineering team for the past 11 years. As Senior Project Manager and Office Manager, Karl is responsible for managing a wide variety of stone detailing projects and project teams. His management responsibilities also cover a range of areas including marketing, operations, human resources and training. Karl holds a Diploma of Architectural Technology from Centennial College, a PMP designation as a member of the Project Management Institute and he sits on the Architectural Advisory Board at Humber College. karld@picco-engineering.com
